Who Can Visit?
The food pantry is open to anyone who needs food. There are no prerequisites to join the program. You do need to pre-register before your first visit.
How to Register?
Register online through the Centre Food Hub sign-up page. After registering, you'll be placed on a waiting list. For questions, call or text 617-971-8840 or email fbcjpfood@gmail.com.
How Often You Can Visit?
Registered pantry recipients can receive a grocery box and a bag of fresh produce once a week.
Good to Know
The Centre Food Hub is closed on Mondays. Hours can sometimes vary since the hub is volunteer-run, so it's a good idea to call or text 617-971-8840 before making a trip.
Food & Essentials
Each pantry visit includes a grocery box and a bag of fresh produce. Staple items include fresh vegetables and bread. The selection also tends to include non-perishable groceries, and sometimes extras like frozen meals, yogurt, and baked goods. The inventory changes daily, so what's available may be different each time.
How to Pick Up
Pantry groceries are pre-packed into bags and boxes by volunteers. To pick up, come during pantry hours: Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Additional Support
The Centre Food Hub also runs a small storefront at the same location where anyone can shop for affordable groceries, fresh produce, and bread at lower prices. Most items are rescued food. Cash, credit, and debit cards are accepted, and everyone is welcome.
The same organization offers free community meals at First Baptist JP, 633 Centre St, Jamaica Plain. Wednesday dinners are held at 6:30 pm and Saturday lunches at 12:00 pm. No registration is needed for community meals.
Ways to Give
Financial donations help supply hot meals and groceries to over 1,400 families in the greater Boston area. You can donate through the Donate page on their website. To learn more, email fbcjpfood@gmail.com.
How to Join the Team?
The Centre Food Hub welcomes volunteers for roles like meal preparation, grocery packing, food deliveries, hub hospitality, compost pickup, community outreach, donation pickup, and unloading deliveries. To sign up, call 617-524-3992 or email fbcjpfood@gmail.com. Groups and organizations should reach out at least two weeks in advance.
