The Grace Center Food Bank
Who Can Visit?
Anyone in need of food assistance is welcome to visit The Grace Center Food Bank. You'll need to bring a valid ID when you come. They'll also ask how many people are in your family so they can make sure you leave with enough.
Items Needed for Registration
Bring your photo ID. They'll ask for the number of people in your household at check-in.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can pick up a box of food once a month. Some reviewers mention that produce may be available more frequently, so it's worth checking when you visit.
Good to Know
The food bank is located at the Impact Center off of Sahara Avenue. The line can get long, so arriving early gives you the best chance of getting the widest selection of food. Only a few people are let in at a time, so expect a wait during busy periods. The later in the day you arrive, the less variety there may be.
Food and Essentials
You can expect a good variety of items including canned goods, dairy products, fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, and sometimes larger items like a whole ham or a big bag of oranges. Visitors describe getting a box of food that can last a week or more. The selection can vary by visit, and the quality of produce has been praised by many. You may also find diapers and formula available, as the food book accepts donations of baby items from the community.
How to Pick Up
When you arrive, get in line outside. Once inside, you'll check in at a table where staff will take your information. You'll then be brought to the food area where you can select items. You typically get about five minutes to choose what you want to take home. Only a small number of people are allowed inside at a time.
Additional Support
The Grace Center offers more than just food. On-site you may find clothing and other donated household items. A medical clinic is located next door, with free clinic visits on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm. Government-assisted phones are available for those who qualify. The center is connected to Trinity Life Center, which offers prayer, Sunday school, and worship services.
Ways to Give
The Grace Center welcomes donations of food, clothing, toys, and other household items. Baby items are especially needed, including things like walkers, swings, and children's clothing. Monetary donations may also be accepted.
How to Join the Team?
Volunteers are a key part of keeping the food bank running. Some community members volunteer multiple times a week. If you'd like to help, reach out to the center directly to find out how to get involved.
