Who Can Visit?

The Society of St. Stephen (SOSS) at Trinity United Methodist Church is open to neighbors in need. The food pantry is part of the Three-Square distribution network, an agency of the Feeding America program. Everyone is welcome to come and receive food.

How Often You Can Visit?

The Food Pantry (Mondays) allows clients to come once a month, with at least 30 days between visits.

The Food Rescue (Thursdays) has no visit limit at all. You're welcome to come every Thursday.

Good to Know

For the Monday Food Pantry, you'll want to arrive at 10:00 a.m. to receive your number.

For the Thursday Food Rescue, it's recommended that you arrive before 11:30 a.m. Food is handed out until it runs out, so arriving early gives you the best chance of getting what you need.

Blessing Bags are a day's worth of food and are available from the church office Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. during office hours.

Food & Essentials

SOSS runs two food programs side by side. The Monday Food Pantry offers regular groceries to clients once a month. The Thursday Food Rescue distributes rescued food with no visit limits. Photos from the pantry show fresh items like apples, carrots, and lettuce among the food offered.

How to Pick Up

For the Monday Food Pantry, arrive at 10:00 a.m. to get your number. The pantry runs from 10:00 a.m. to noon and is located in the Society of St. Stephen building in the parking lot of Trinity United Methodist Church at 6151 West Charleston Blvd.

For the Thursday Food Rescue, registration begins at 11:00 a.m. in the church parking lot. It's recommended you arrive before 11:30 a.m. since food is distributed until it runs out.

Additional Support

SOSS also offers a Helping Hand Up program through the church office. When funds are available, this program can help with bus pass money (not bus passes), gas money (not gas cards), and laundry money.

Blessing Bags with a day's worth of food are handed out from the church office Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Ways to Give

SOSS welcomes both food donations and financial gifts. Donors have found the staff pleasant and appreciative when dropping off grocery donations in person. You can also give online directly to the Society of St. Stephen fund at secure.myvanco.com/YGYK/campaign/C-YJ1H.

For questions, you can call (702) 870-4747 or email Trinity@tumclv.org. The church office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteering with SOSS is a great way to help people in need while meeting other members of the community. Here are the ways you can get involved:

  • Food Pantry (Mondays, 10:00 a.m. to noon): Help pack food and process clients.
  • Food Rescue (Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.): Sort food, pack and haul boxes, and work with clients.
  • Monthly Food Delivery (1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, around 10:00 a.m.): Help sort food. This is a labor-intensive shift.

All volunteers must sign up through the Three-Square website at www.threesquare.org. Go to the "How to Help" tab, select "Volunteer as an Individual," and complete the online application.
