How Often You Can Visit?
Clients can visit the pantry once a month.
Good to Know
The pantry is handicap accessible. The entrance is on the south side of Starkweather Avenue, just west of W 14th Street. It's a good idea to bring your own reusable shopping bags.
How to Pick Up
Pilgrim runs a "choice" pantry, which means you pick the food items that best suit your family's tastes and needs instead of receiving pre-packed bags. A volunteer called a Shopper will walk with you through the pantry, answer your questions, and help you understand how many items your household can take.
Ways to Give
You can drop off non-perishable, non-expired food items at the Starkweather entrance during pantry hours (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to noon), or call (216) 861-7388 to arrange a drop-off at another time. Donations are also welcome on Sunday mornings before and after the 10:00 AM worship service.
If you're a merchant with discontinued or excess stock, reach out to the pantry about donating those items as long as they're not expired.
Financial donations help the pantry purchase food from the Greater Cleveland Food Bank at a discount. You can mail a check made out to Pilgrim Food Pantry to 2592 W. 14th Street, Cleveland, OH 44113, or give online at their donation page.
How to Join the Team?
The pantry is entirely run by volunteers, and there's always room for more. Even just one morning a month makes a real difference. The three main volunteer roles are Shopper, Stocker, and Outside Host.
- Shopper: walks alongside clients through the pantry, answers questions, and explains how many items each family size can take
- Stocker: refills the pantry shelves from boxes of groceries and other goods
- Outside Host: welcomes clients, hands out check-in numbers, and manages the queue
