Who Can Visit?

Any household in Franklin County whose income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level is welcome here. Your zip code or neighborhood doesn't affect your eligibility. You don't need a referral. You can walk in during open hours or place a full order online and schedule a pickup time.

Items Needed for Registration

Bring a photo ID for the head of household to every visit. You'll also need to show proof of address at your first visit. After that, address is verified once a year.

How Often You Can Visit?

You can come once a month for a full shop. Produce-only visits are welcome every week.

Good to Know

This is a busy pantry, and arriving early is highly recommended. Reviews note that lines move quickly and most people are in and out in under 25 minutes. If you can't make your scheduled pickup, you have until the end of the week (Friday) to come in and still collect your order. You can also have someone else pick up your order for you by completing a proxy form, which you can pick up at the pantry or download and print from the website. Parking is available across the street on Frebis, and there's free street parking as well. The pantry serves Spanish speakers and has a translate feature on its website for many additional languages.

Food & Essentials

A full order includes at least a three-day supply of emergency food with pantry staples like canned vegetables, cooking oil, pasta, and peanut butter. You'll also receive meat, bread, and fresh produce. Through the online ordering system, you can pre-select shelf-stable items such as cereal, canned tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, canned fruits, canned beans, canned soup, and vegetable oil. Walk-in visits allow you to pick up fresh produce, milk, eggs, cheese, and bread. The pantry also sometimes has household goods, baby items, personal care products like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and pet food for your four-legged family members.

How to Pick Up

This is a choice pantry where you pick your own items. Franklin County residents can either walk in during open hours or place a full order online at lssfoodpantries.org and schedule an appointment for pickup. When you arrive, you check in, then take a cart and helpers fill it as you go through the pantry. Your pre-ordered shelf-stable box will already be ready and waiting. You then shop the fresh items like produce, bread, dairy, and meat on-site. If you need help placing an order online, you can call the help desk at 1-877-LSS-MEAL on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. An online help document and video tutorial are also available.

Ways to Give

You can drop off food donations at the pantry at 1460 S. Champion Ave. in Columbus, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (excluding holidays). The most needed items include spaghetti sauce, canned chicken, canned tuna, canned peaches or fruit cocktail, peanut butter, canned corn or green beans, black beans, canned soup, vegetable oil, cereal, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and body wash. You can also shop directly from the Amazon Wish List to have items delivered. To make a monetary donation online, visit the LSS donate page. You can also give monthly through the Faithful Friends program.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and must sign up for a shift in advance. Head to lss.vomo.org/initiative/food-pantries to see available opportunities and register. Groups are also welcome and can apply through the group volunteer request form. Court-ordered community service volunteers are accepted at LSS Food Pantries sites.
