Who Can Visit?
You must live in one of these four zip codes to qualify for food assistance: 43123, 43126, 43146, or 43119. Before your first visit, you'll also need to make an appointment through LSS 211 Central Ohio. You can do this by dialing 211 from any phone. It's not a walk-in pantry, so the appointment is required.
How to Order?
Call 211 to reach LSS 211 Central Ohio and schedule your appointment with the Grove City Food Pantry. The phone lines are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. You can also visit 211centralohio.org to make an appointment online.
Items Needed for Registration
On your first visit, bring a form of ID for every member of your household. Adults can use a driver's license, state ID card, or Social Security card. Children can use a Social Security card, school ID card, or birth certificate. You'll also need to bring a utility bill (such as gas or electric) to prove your address.
How Often You Can Visit?
Each family is limited to one visit per calendar month, which works out to 12 visits a year.
Good to Know
Each visit provides about a week's worth of food based on your household size (the FAQ also mentions about 3 days' worth in one answer, so expect around 3 to 7 days of food depending on your family size). You don't need to bring your own bags. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the posted closing time. If you have food allergies or restrictions, let the volunteers know when you arrive so they can help you make the best selections.
Food & Essentials
The pantry hands out a wide variety of items. For canned goods, you'll find fruits like pears, peaches, oranges, and mixed fruit, along with vegetables like green beans, corn, carrots, spinach, beets, and potatoes. Canned soups, meats, chili, pasta, and beef stew are also available. Boxed and bagged items include things like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, rice, beans, pasta, cereal, and ramen noodles. The pantry also carries fresh produce, meat, and bagged fruit like potatoes and onions. Snacks and condiments are part of the mix as well.
Beyond food, the pantry distributes healthcare products and home care items like toilet paper, cleaning solutions, shampoo, and other personal care products. If a baby is listed on your household chart, they can supply diapers, wipes, and baby food. Dog and cat food is sometimes available too, though in limited quantities and not in full store-sized bags.
How to Pick Up
This is a drive-thru style pantry. When you arrive for your appointment, pull your car into line at the front of the pantry. Volunteers will come out to your car to help you and load your groceries directly into your vehicle. You don't need to go inside.
Ways to Give
The Grove City Food Pantry runs entirely on monetary and food donations. For every dollar donated, the pantry can purchase up to $8.00 worth of food.
You can donate money securely online through PayPal or by credit card at their donation page. You can also write a check to "GROVE CITY FOOD PANTRY" and mail it to Grove City Food Pantry, ATTN: Tracy Fiber, 2710 Columbus Street, Grove City, OH 43123. If you collect cash through a donation drive, deposit it first and then donate by credit card or check, or email managers@grovecityfoodpantry.org.
If you shop at Kroger, link your Kroger Rewards card to G.C. FOOD PANTRY & EMERGENCY #GM102 so a portion of your purchases goes to the pantry at no extra cost to you.
For food donations, you can drop off canned, boxed, or fresh items (no homemade food) at the pantry during these hours: Monday and Thursday 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. A donation tub in the back of the pantry is also available any time. For large quantities of food, email managers@grovecityfoodpantry.org to arrange a pickup with their box truck.
Please note that the pantry does not accept clothing, personal accessories, home appliances, home furnishings, electronic devices, or tools.
How to Join the Team?
The pantry always needs volunteers for food distribution, sorting, and pickup routes. Food distribution volunteers load groceries onto carts and into client cars, and are needed Monday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm (times are flexible). Pantry pick-up and sorting volunteers help weigh, sort, and stock donated food, with regular slots on Monday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Smaller pickup routes also run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
To sign up, fill out the volunteer interest form on the volunteering page.
