Who Can Visit?
The Rainbow Kitchen Food Pantry serves low-income residents of Homestead, West Homestead, Munhall, Duquesne, Whitaker, and West Mifflin. All food pick-ups are by scheduled appointment only, so you'll need to register before your first visit.
How to Register?
Call 412-464-1892 to get more information and sign up. Once you're registered, Rainbow Kitchen will call you each month to schedule your pick-up appointment.
How Often You Can Visit?
The pantry runs on a monthly schedule. After you register, staff will call you once a month to set up your pick-up time for that month.
Good to Know
Each visit includes at least a 7-day supply of supplemental groceries. One visitor shared that they received two boxes of food — one with fresh produce and pantry staples, and another with meat and produce — enough to last about a month.
Food & Essentials
The pantry provides at least a 7-day supply of supplemental groceries along with essential non-food items. Visitors have reported receiving fresh produce, pantry staples, and meat. Non-food items such as toiletries, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper, dish and laundry detergent, and household cleaning products are also distributed. Diapers (infant, toddler, and adult sizes) and infant formula are available as well.
How to Pick Up
All food distribution is by individual scheduled appointment only. Once you're registered, Rainbow Kitchen will call you each month to confirm the date and time for your pick-up.
Additional Support
Rainbow Kitchen offers a grab-and-go Breakfast Program every weekday morning. A substantial, balanced hot meal is individually packaged in take-out containers and available from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
The Kids Café program provides a hot, balanced dinner to children at risk of hunger, Monday through Friday, year-round.
Case Management services are offered on both a short-term and extended basis. Through the PERSONAL PATHS self-sufficiency program, staff can help you create a plan for reaching your goals, connect you with community resources, work on financial stability, and assist with applications for SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP, and Medical Assistance. For more information, contact Renee Conte at 412-464-1892 or renee.conte@rainbowkitchen.org.
Rainbow Kitchen also offers Vision Services in partnership with the Pennsylvania Vision Foundation and Vision Benefits of America (VBA). Uninsured and underinsured individuals can receive a free comprehensive vision exam and help purchasing glasses.
