Who Can Visit?

Hungry Souls serves food-insecure children and their families in the Austin area. Food is distributed through local school partnerships, so families receive food through the schools their children attend. The program provides enough food to feed the whole family each weekend and during school breaks.

Good to Know

Hungry Souls operates out of Bannockburn Church at 7100 Brodie Lane, Austin, TX 78745. Their office hours are 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, and they're available by appointment outside those hours. You can reach the team by phone at 512-524-9067 or by email at info@hungry-souls.org.

Food & Essentials

Every family receives a bag packed with fresh groceries and all the ingredients needed to cook meals together for the weekend. Each bag includes fresh produce (like broccoli, onions, peppers, squash, apples, and oranges), proteins (such as ground turkey, ground beef, lunch meat, hot dogs, chorizo, and cheese), canned goods (like green beans, corn, beans, tomatoes, pasta sauce, and chili), and whole grains (like rice, pasta, tortillas, bread, cereal, and mac and cheese). Families also receive healthy recipes and a Crockpot to cook together.

How to Pick Up

Food is delivered to families through their children's schools across Austin every Thursday. Families receive their groceries directly through the school distribution.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers are the heart of Hungry Souls, and there are several ways to get involved each week:

  • Tuesday mornings: Help unload and stage fresh groceries as they arrive.
  • Tuesday evenings: Join a packing party to bag produce and assemble weekend meal bags. This is a great option for individuals, families, and groups.
  • Wednesday mornings: Help organize donations, clean shelves, and prep the pantry for Thursday deliveries.
  • Thursday mornings: Pack cold items and load vans for delivery to schools across Austin. "Road warriors" who can drive larger vehicles and run delivery routes are especially welcome.

There are also other volunteer opportunities throughout the week and seasonal chances to help with fundraising events. To sign up or learn more, visit hungry-souls.org/volunteer or contact the team at info@hungry-souls.org.
