Restoration Center Fort Worth is open to anyone in the community who needs help. The homeless are welcome every day the center is open, and households can visit on a weekly basis.
Who Can Visit?
WestAid serves households in zip codes 76107, 76108, 76109, 76114, 76116, 76126, and the Tarrant County portion of 76008. If you're visiting for the first time, you'll be served on that first visit even if you haven't registered ahead of time. If you live outside the service area, staff can point you toward resources closer to home.
Items Needed for Registration
It's helpful to bring a photo ID and proof of address when you visit. You'll also receive a blue card on your first visit, which you'll want to bring every time you come back to help speed up check-in.
How Often You Can Visit?
Households can come twice each month for client-choice shopping in the pantry. Unsheltered neighbors are welcome to stop by for a sack lunch any day WestAid is open.
Good to Know
WestAid is a popular pantry, and lines can form before the doors open. Some visitors arrive as early as two hours ahead of opening. The website asks that you arrive by 11:30 a.m. to allow time to check in and finish your food selection before the pantry closes at noon. After check-in, there may be a short wait; you'll be given a number and called when it's your turn to shop.
Food & Essentials
WestAid offers a wide variety of nutritious food. Past visitors have received bread, eggs, meat such as pork loin roast, whole chicken, and steaks, as well as fresh produce like blueberries, walnuts, and almonds. The pantry stocks canned goods including vegetables, fruits, soups, beans, fish, and canned meats. You'll also find dairy products, cold items, and frozen goods. Packaged grains and cereals such as rice, pasta, and oatmeal are available, along with nut butters. Extras like coffee and creamer are sometimes offered when available. WestAid also distributes pet food, including dog food supplied through a partnership with Don't Forget to Feed Me, and occasionally cat food as well.
Beyond food, WestAid distributes personal care items including toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, wipes, deodorant, and insect repellant.
How to Pick Up
WestAid uses a client-choice shopping model. After you check in, a volunteer will help guide you through the pantry aisles, where you pick the items you want for your household. You can say no thanks to anything you won't use, which helps the pantry avoid waste. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Facilities
Sack lunches are available at no cost to unsheltered neighbors on any day WestAid is open. Visitors have also noted the pantry occasionally has clothing and other basic items available for those who ask.
Ways to Give
WestAid welcomes both financial and in-kind donations. You can donate online, mail a check payable to WestAid at 2800 S. Cherry Lane, Suite 106, Fort Worth, TX 76116, or reach the team by email at westaid@westaid.org or by phone at 817-737-9338.
Food and hygiene item donations are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon, or by appointment. For large food drives, WestAid volunteers can arrange a pickup if you contact them in advance. The pantry accepts commercially packaged, sealed, non-expired, non-dented canned goods; shelf-stable items such as canned vegetables, fruits, soups, beans, fish, and meat; packaged grains and cereals like rice, pasta, and oatmeal; and sealed nut butters. Homemade or home-canned food, expired or damaged items, open packages, and items in glass containers can't be accepted.
Hygiene items most needed include toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, wipes, deodorant, and travel-size insect repellant.
How to Join the Team?
WestAid runs on volunteers. To get started, fill out the online volunteer application, then attend an orientation session to learn about the organization and your role. After orientation, you're ready to help. Volunteers must not currently be receiving WestAid's services, and those under 13 need an adult present. Closed-toed shoes are required. WestAid is not offering court-ordered volunteer placements at this time. Visit westaid.org/volunteers to apply.
