Who Can Visit?
The Pittsford Food Cupboard helps families who live in the nine zip codes it serves: 14534, 14445, 14610, 14618, 14607, 14620, 14506, 14472, and parts of 14625 for Pittsford School District residents only. This covers Pittsford, East Rochester, Brighton, Mendon, Honeoye Falls, and parts of the City of Rochester. Families are screened to make sure they qualify through proof of residence, so you'll need to show that you live in the area. If you don't live in one of these zip codes, you can dial 211 or call 1-877-356-9211 for help finding another resource.
Items Needed for Registration
When you come, please bring:
- Proof of address: one piece of mail for each adult 18 or older living in your home, dated within the last 30 days (such as an RG&E bill, rent receipt, credit card bill, or medical statement). The mail must clearly show a name, address, and date. PO boxes aren't accepted.
- A photo ID for everyone 18 or older living in the home.
- Documentation for all children living in the home, like a birth certificate, guardianship papers, or a permit.
Once you're a current client, each visit you'll need to bring proof of address for yourself and each adult in the household, a photo ID for the person shopping, and an ID and proof of residence for anyone new in the household.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can come once every two weeks, and no sooner.
Good to Know
Please plan to arrive at least a half hour before closing time, which means no later than 1:00pm on weekdays and 11:00am on Saturdays. When you reach 3800 Monroe Avenue, look for the cupboard's sign directing you into the driveway. Once you turn in, stay to the left and go straight to the back, behind the trees. Visitors say the volunteers are friendly and helpful, and they'll even help carry your food out to your car.
Food & Essentials
The Pittsford Food Cupboard keeps its shelves stocked with a wide range of shelf-stable groceries. You can find canned goods like canned meats, tomatoes, beets, olives, and mushrooms, along with meals in a can such as ravioli and beefaroni. There are breakfast foods like cereal, oatmeal, grits, and pancake mix, plus baking supplies, jam and jelly, condiments, coffee, juice, and cold drinks. Beyond food, the cupboard also offers helpful extras like pet food for dogs and cats, cleaning supplies, paper products, and personal care items.
How to Pick Up
The Pittsford Food Cupboard is a client-choice pantry. When you arrive, a volunteer greets you and takes you shopping so you can pick out the items your family needs. When you're done, they'll help carry everything out to your car.
Additional Support
Seniors who live in the 14534 zip code can sign up for home delivery. To qualify, you must be 65 or older, unable to get out for your own groceries, and able to be home to accept the delivery. You'll need to show a picture ID and current mail to begin, and call on delivery day to choose your items. Deliveries are made on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.
The cupboard also points visitors toward other community resources, including Lasagna Love, which delivers a home-cooked meal to your family, and Monroe County Meals on Wheels, which brings nutritious meals to seniors and people with disabilities.
