Good to Know

Reviewers say you can pick up to 4 household essential items such as cleaning supplies in addition to food. Visitors have reported leaving with around 5 bags of groceries per visit.

Food & Essentials

The pantry stocks a wide range of shelf-stable foods including rice, cereals, oatmeal, pancake mix, canned vegetables, canned beef stew and chili, canned tomatoes, crackers, cookies, and baking items. Fresh produce and other fresh foods donated by local restaurants and grocers are also available when in stock. Cleaning supplies such as laundry detergent, dish soap, and household cleaners are on hand too, along with pet food for dogs and cats.

How to Pick Up

Volunteers help fill your food order during open hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They make sure you get a chance to look at everything available before you leave so you don't miss anything.

Additional Support

Volunteers have helped connect visitors with free winter coats and signed children up for toy programs, with little extra effort from the family.

Ways to Give

Food donations can be dropped off during service hours, placed in the donation bins at the front of the building, or left inside the Ross Township Municipal Center. Generic brands are always welcome. Visit the website for the current list of most-needed items. Items past their "Best by" date, medicine, and clothing are not accepted.

How to Join the Team?

The North Hills Food Bank runs entirely on volunteers. Volunteers help fill food orders on Tuesdays and Thursdays, stock shelves, and pick up donations from local grocery stores and restaurants each week. To get involved, contact Volunteer Coordinator Kay at 412-313-1818.
