Guadalupe Community Center
Who Can Visit?
Guadalupe Community Center is open to anyone in the San Antonio community who needs help. Run by Catholic Charities, the center's motto is "Serving All" and it welcomes everyone in need of a hand-up, no matter their background.
Items Needed for Registration
When you come for food assistance, bring a valid ID. Reviewers also mention bringing proof of your address and proof of income. If you have documentation for food stamps, Medicare, or Medicaid, bring that along as well.
How Often You Can Visit?
Visitors who have used the pantry share that food assistance is available once a year per household.
Food & Essentials
The pantry offers free canned and dry goods, dairy products, meat and poultry, bread and pastries, and fresh organic produce grown at the on-site St. Phocas Garden.
How to Pick Up
Food is picked up at the St. Stephen's CARE Center, located at 2127 S. Zarzamora St., San Antonio, TX 78207. It's a client-choice pantry where you can browse and pick the groceries you need, just like shopping at a store, at no cost. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Additional Support
Beyond food, the center offers a wide range of support services:
- Free Tax Preparation (VITA): Available at the Guadalupe Community Center VITA Office, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, for households earning up to $65,000 per year. Returns are completed within three business days.
- SNAP Help: Case managers can help you apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits.
- Emergency Financial Assistance: One-time help with rent or utility bills is available for income-eligible individuals and families. Call on Mondays at 8:30 AM to get on the waitlist. Appointments are required and limited each week.
- Case Management: Staff offer one-on-one coaching that includes financial literacy education, budget planning, goal setting, and resume help.
- Referrals: The center can connect you with employment and job training programs, counseling, and other community resources.
- Mobile Relief Unit: A mobile food pantry and USDA-certified kitchen brings warm, fresh meals and other support services to San Antonio and 19 surrounding counties in the Archdiocese.
Facilities
At the St. Stephen's CARE Center, there's also a Clothing Closet where you can browse and pick work attire, school clothes, and everyday wear at no cost.

Monetary donations can be made through the GCC donation page. Food and gently used clothing donations are accepted at St. Stephen's CARE Center, 2127 S. Zarzamora St., Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
How to Join the Team?
To volunteer, start by visiting Virtus to complete a criminal background check and three required online training courses. Once finished, you'll get access to the GivePulse volunteer portal to complete your application.
