Who Can Visit?

Community Food Bank welcomes anyone in need, with no zip code restrictions. You don't have to live nearby to get help — whether you're around the corner or anywhere in North Texas, you're welcome. Just bring a photo ID every time you visit. Even if your ID is expired or shows an old address, it's still accepted as long as it has your photo.

Items Needed for Registration

Bring a photo ID. That's all that's needed for groceries. For the diaper pantry, also bring proof of your child's age, such as a birth certificate or Medicaid card.

How Often You Can Visit?

Each household can receive one box of groceries once every two weeks. Case managers may also come in person to pick up a box on behalf of a client.

Good to Know

Arrive early — doors close at 1:00 PM and the pantry doesn't make exceptions for late arrivals. Reviewers mention lines can be long, but they typically move at a good pace. Each household receives one box per visit, so only one ID per household is needed. You can't choose the contents of your box, but you can let staff know if you have pets so they can include pet food when it's available.

Food & Essentials

Each grocery box typically includes fresh or frozen meats (such as chicken, ground beef, or pork), fresh produce, dairy items like milk and eggs, baked goods and bread, canned food, and shelf-stable pantry staples like rice and pasta. The exact contents change based on what's available that day. The pantry also distributes diapers and wipes for families with young children, hygiene and personal care items, cleaning supplies, pet food, and brand new clothing for children and adults.

How to Pick Up

This is a walk-up service. Walk up to the main entrance at 3000 Galvez Avenue during distribution hours (Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM). Check in with your photo ID and a staff member or volunteer will hand you a pre-packed grocery box. If you need help getting to your car, staff can assist. If you have a valid handicap placard or handicap license plate, you may use the drive-up line instead and groceries will be brought to your vehicle.

Ways to Give

Community Food Bank accepts food donations, financial gifts, and community food drives. Priority food donations include fresh or frozen meats (chicken, beef, pork, turkey), fresh produce, dairy products (milk, cheese, butter), and pantry staples (canned proteins, pasta, rice, cereal). Drop off donations at the Shipping and Receiving docks at 3000 Galvez Avenue, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For large corporate donations, the facility has four semi-truck bay doors. Donations can also be picked up by the pantry — contact Rudy Taylor at (817) 924-3333 or visit the contact page.

To donate money, give online through Givebutter, send a check payable to Community Food Bank at 3000 Galvez Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76111, or donate via PayPal. Every $1 donated helps provide 5 nutritious meals. The pantry also accepts Donor-Advised Fund grants — use EIN 75-1813170. Monthly giving is available through the Sustainers Circle.

How to Join the Team?

Individuals (five or fewer) can apply through the CFB Point volunteer portal. Applications are reviewed by Rev. Karen Harris, typically by the next business day, with approval sent by email. All volunteers must have a signed Volunteer Liability Waiver on file and register for specific shifts through the online calendar. Volunteers must be 18 or older. Teens may volunteer with a parent or guardian if you contact Rev. Harris at least 24 hours ahead.

Groups of six or more should contact Rev. Karen Harris directly at karenharris@food-bank.org or (817) 924-3333 ext. 106 to schedule a group volunteering experience. Volunteer shifts are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a minimum of 4 hours preferred.
