Who Can Visit?

Eastside Ministries serves neighbors in the Tarrant County area. Arrive during business hours, the earlier the better. When you get there, sign in at the office door and fill out an application when an Intake Specialist is ready for you. They'll enter your household into the system so you can receive the help you need.

Items Needed for Registration

Bring a photo ID and proof of residence. Reviewers mention that you'll want to have your household members' birthdays ready as well.

How Often You Can Visit?

If you live within certain zip codes, you can visit once a week. If you're outside those zip codes, you can come once a month.

Good to Know

Arrive as early as possible. Sign-ins close at 11:00 AM for food services, even though distribution runs until 12:00 PM, so don't wait until the last minute. The earlier you arrive, the shorter your wait.

Food & Essentials

Groceries are based on your household size and include pantry staples along with meat, dairy, bakery items, and fresh produce as inventory allows. The pantry also provides baby food if you let your Intake Specialist know during your visit.

Non-food items are available too. Each person in your household can receive two complete outfits from the clothing room, which counts as a top and a bottom or a single dress. Additional items like cold-weather gear, socks, underwear, and pajamas are sometimes available, with quantities set by the Clothing Manager. Diapers (both children's and adult sizes), feminine products, and incontinence items are on hand as well. Household items such as paper products, linens, and cleaning supplies are offered when available, though these tend to be in limited supply. Housewares, kitchen utensils, and toys are placed on a free shelf in the clothing area on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet food and hygiene products are also provided when available.

How to Pick Up

On Mondays and Fridays, food distribution runs as a car line from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. On Tuesdays, walk-up clients can come in from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. You must be signed in by 11:00 AM on any day.

Additional Support

Eastside holds Saturday mobile events at different partner locations across the community. At these events, visitors can receive free food, clothing, and resources, along with blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings, and depression or anxiety screenings. Anyone who scores high on the screening questionnaire is offered a free counseling appointment. Check the Latest News page for specific dates, times, and locations of these Saturday events.

All clients can also ask their Intake Specialist for a resource packet with local referral information covering housing, jobs, medical assistance, and counseling.

Eastside also runs a Transitions program for people who have been placed in housing through a caseworker. Participants receive weekly grocery distribution plus monthly clothing service for one year from their move-in date, as long as they remain in the housing placement.

For people experiencing homelessness, Eastside provides sack lunches each day from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Lunches may include canned meats, crackers, condiments, sandwiches, snacks like granola bars or yogurt, and beverages depending on what's available. Homeless visitors can also receive the same two-outfits-per-person clothing allowance each month as general clients.

Ways to Give

Eastside welcomes donations of un-expired food and household items. Items in especially high demand include cold cereal, canned vegetables, men's clothing, children's clothing, socks, underwear, new hygiene items, new cleaning products, linens, sleeping bags, diapers, and disposable adult underwear. For the homeless sack lunch program, they also need water, Vienna sausages, individually wrapped crackers, chips, breakfast bars, and non-refrigerated snacks. To drop off donations, knock on the donations door and staff will assist you. You can also call (817) 446-3278 with questions.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers are always welcome. Come by Monday, Tuesday, or Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM to help in the clothing room or food pantry. There's especially a need for help in the mid-morning, including unloading food from the truck. Just show up during those hours and the team will put you to work.
